The northern light
The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are spellbinding. With its dancing greens to rose-pink hues, they charm by shape and intensity to create magical moments. Ancient Norse myths tell of souls of fallen warriors that come back to life under the magnificent Northern Lights. Starting at the end of August when the nights start to become cooler and draw in, enthusiasts wait with anticipation for this colorful spectacle in the night sky. There is a good chance to witness this nocturnal art, in and around the Alta area, because the climate is relatively stable throughout the year situated at 69 degrees latitude but there are of course no guarantees. As long as the sky is clear and the temperature is below zero the chances are very high.
